saturday night crostinis

current drink of choice: pear cider; current background noise: frozen planet (first episode – highly-recommended; the footage is really impressive).

my recent attempt at cooking has ranged from mediocre to completely inedible, so i was happy when my crostini appetizer turned out pretty delicious last night.  the recipe is really easy and takes only 10-15 minutes to prepare.  make sure you buy a fresh french baguette and toast it in the oven for a few minutes before topping with the following:

1. sprinkle of olive oil, mozzarella, tomato, and basil

2. spoonful of marscapone, honey, and walnuts that have been toasted in the oven for about 5-8 minutes [full disclosure: this recipe is inspired by a crostini i had at almar in dumbo]

i know these are really basic, but any accomplishment in my journey to be food network-worthy is exciting!

st. patrick’s day in dumbo

current drink of choice: woodchuck hard cider; current background sound: game change (definitely too political for me).

happy saint patrick’s day!  perhaps i’m uncool for not drinking myself silly like an irishman today, but now that i’m 30, i guess i’m too old for those shenangans.  plans for the weekend? probably have a nice dinner tonight and hit up the new cookie place in the neighborhood, one girl cookies.  should be some low-key holiday fun.

a new blog by a non-blogger

current drink of choice: riesling; current background sound: house of lies (which i haven’t quite warmed to).

so here i am, starting a blog.  the purpose of this blog? honestly, unknown.  i figure i’ll figure it out soon enough.  when all else fails, i suppose i can just post cute pictures of my cat.
